From Humble Origins to an Influential Force in Today's Gravel Crushing and Washing Industry

Murray LeDahl entered the gravel crushing and washing industry in 1980. Over the next few years, he learned the jobs on the crushers and was soon promoted foreman.
When an economic downturn happened in the early 80's, jobs became scarce. Many crushers would finish off a contract and layoff their workers and eagerly wait to bid on the next job.
Murray would scan the "invitation for tender" column of the news paper, watching for upcoming gravel supply contract offers. When the tenders would be opened, Murray would discover which company was awarded the contract and make a congratulatory phone call. Often this phone call would lead to a new professional friendship and regularly to his next job.
Murray's early gravel crushing career and contracts took him all over Alberta, BC, The Alaska Highway, and even North of the Arctic Circle to the Dempster Highway, and Inuvik. Through the years, Murray was fortunate to work with many gravel professionals and service people, with many different ideas and a wide range of skills.
In the early 90's Murray had moved his young family to Vancouver Island BC. In BC, Murray worked as a Lime Kiln operator, and had acquired a 4th Class Power Engineering Certification. In the mid to late 90's, Murray left BC to become reacquainted to the gravel industry in Northern Alberta.
